Shanghai

We woke up to this:

Good Morning Shanghai!

Good Morning Shanghai!

It’s chilly here and a tad drizzly, but that wasn’t going to stop us. We walked to a recommended dumpling shop for a bite to eat and then continued on to the old city. Shanghai is a hyper-modern, very clean city with an interesting mix of old and new China. The city itself is the largest in the world and my feet feel like that is true considering the ground we’ve covered thus far. We did some light shopping, but that’s not to say that some heavy bargaining was not done by Atticus. There was. He did. I think he likes the sport of it.

We checked out Yu Gardens as well. What a beautiful place, even in January. I know it must be incredible when the trees are leafed out and the cherry trees are in bloom.

I thought this next image was interesting because you might think you were looking at a major U.S. city in the not too distant past. There is certainly a western look to it and without the street sign giveaway we could be in London.

We head out early for our flight to Beijing, and are running out the door now for some more adventures on the other side of the river, so we bid you farewell for now and will post again upon return from the Great Wall, etc.
