Aloha!

Tomorrow we will wake up in Hawaii. Lots of whale spouts, a few birds and more flying fish sightings as we have gotten closer to land. The air is balmy and skies blue. It is expected to cool off when we leave the islands for Japan where winter is in full swing. It’ll be strange to go from shorts and t-shirts to puffy coats and wooly hats. We expect similar weather in some parts of China but things should start warming up as we head south to Vietnam and Myanmar. I have been recruited by Megan to perform songs as part of her pre-port medical talks to spice things up. So imagine Weird Al type parodies with medical related topics woven into the lyrics. It’s a generally friendly audience so I don’t think it’ll do too much damage to my career. My new pal Andy is going to accompany me on percussion so I will have someone to laugh/cry with about it later. For our debut I have worked up a version of Don Ho’s Tiny Bubbles with lyrics about sunburns and not being a jack-ass on shore and as a back-up a sweet sweet version of the Violent Femmes Blister in the Sun, with similar lyrical content.
